General FAQs

What safety and security measures are in place?

There is no higher priority than the safety and security of our children and educators. The JLA campus is surveilled by security guards and all access is controlled and monitored. JLA is a partner of the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles’s Community Security Initiative (CSI), which serves as a single point of contact for critical incident coordination, information and intelligence sharing, safety and security training, and provides resources for Jewish institutions across L.A.

How are children with neurodiversity and disabilities supported?

J Los Angeles strives to be a welcoming and inclusive environment where all children and families thrive. The early childhood center has a social worker on staff who works closely with families and specialists to accommodate children with neurodiversity and disabilities through modified activities, individual aides, and onsite therapy if needed. The social worker also works closely with the child’s teacher to make sure needs are being met in the classroom. Additionally, the social worker connects families to outside resources when needed.

What qualifications do ECC staff have?

The JLA early childhood educators are experts within their field and are required to have completed early childhood education courses at the college level. All ECC staff also must have a clear background check. In addition, ECC staff participate in year-round professional development and training sessions and are CPR and First Aid certified.

What communication can parents expect from the school?

There is an open-door policy regarding parent communication and involvement! Daily reports are shared through the school’s communication app and weekly updates are sent from ECC leadership. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice per year.
